Within the framework of the official visit to Vietnam by Austrian Federal Minister for European and International Affairs \u2013 H.E. Alexander Schallenberg, from 16 April to 18 April 2023, in the afternoon dated 17 April in Hanoi, the Austrian Embassy and the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber coordinated with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) to organize Austria – Vietnam Forum on Infrastructure and Technology Cooperation. Leaders of the Ministry of Construction, Vietnam Fire & Rescue Association (VFRA)<\/a>, leading Vietnamese businesses and leading Austrian businesses in security, green technology, and automobile manufacturing attended the panel session.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

At the panel discussion session, the speakers highly appreciated the potential of cooperation between Vietnam and Austria, assessed that Austria is a country with high technology and developed infrastructure in which Vietnam is interested in. Vice President of Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, Mr. Philipp Gady expressed his wish that Austrian Federal Economic Chamber can act as bridge to encourage the two countries\u2019 enterprises to step up investment and trade activities, especially in the sectors of Austria\u2019s strengths such as infrastructure, renewable energy and technology.<\/p>\n

On behalf of Vietnamese business community, Chairman of NDTC. Companies, Atty. Nguyen Do Tung Cuong said that Austria is at the cutting edge of developments in the field of technology, offering huge cooperation opportunities between 2 countries. Vietnamese government has played the role of a promoter and also a potential customer (in public investment projects) for high-tech products from Austria.<\/p>\n

Vietnam set a growth target of 6.5% for whole economy in\u00a02023, which is very ambitious, then public disbursement in 2023\u00a0is also 25% higher than last year. However, public investment disbursement in the first quarter of this year reached nearly 10% of the initial whole-year plan. To ensure at least 95% of the public investment budget disbursed this year to speed up growth, government need to increase disbursement at least 85% from now until the end of the year, which offers huge opportunities for international businesses, especially Austrian ones.<\/p>\n

With big effort to become a bright destination for attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), Vietnam\u2019s public and private sectors stand ready to invest more in infrastructure technologies, focusing on sustainable development and smart, green technology solutions.\u201d Atty. Nguyen Do Tung Cuong shared.<\/p>\n

As Vice Chairman of Vietnam – Austria Friendship Association as well as Chairman of NDTC. Companies<\/a>, Atty. Nguyen Do Tung Cuong affirmed to support in connecting and cooperating between Austrian and Vietnamese organizations and businesses in the coming time.<\/p>\n
